IFA's 10th Global Conference on Ageing
The International Federation on Ageing 10th Global Conference (IFA 2010) is proud to be hosted by the Council on the Ageing, Victoria (COTA, Vic) in the beautiful city of Melbourne. The Conference will provide a reliable platform for a global information exchange and point of connection for all, working to generate positive social change for older people. The five themes that form the program framework - Climate Change; Social Inclusion; Human Rights; Resourcing Change; and Healthy Ageing - are expected to stimulate new conversations as well as explore traditional subject areas in more depth. Each theme will be informed by international and regional frameworks including United Nations (UN) Principles for Older People, the UN Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and the Active Ageing Framework of the World Health Organization. Also known as Australia’s Garden State, the city of Melbourne is situated on the picturesque tree lined banks of the Yarra River and is a thriving cosmopolitan city with a unique balance of graceful old and new architecture. The venue will be in the newly constructed, state of the art Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre which is a consistent winner of many prestigious ‘Awards for Excellence for providing delegates with the highest standards of personal service and Congress facilities under one roof. The new Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star environmental rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, the first in the world for a convention centre. The International Federation on Ageing and COTA (Vic) reaches out to people of all nations, disciplines and sectors in the invitation to attend this international event where knowledge will be shared, information exchanged and solutions explored to strengthen our commitment to successful ageing across the world.
