Cameroon 2013 – International Workshop “Ageing and Healthy Environments”

27-28 May 2013, Yaounde, Cameroon

Towards the end of May 2013, The International Federation on Ageing (IFA), together with Friends of IFA Japan (FOIFA), and along with collaboration from local partners, co-hosted a successful international workshop on ageing and healthy environments in the city of Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Addressing the fact that Africa will experience a faster rate of population ageing than all other regions in projections to 2050, the workshop focused on some of the burning issues surrounding elderly people and ageing in Cameroon  (in addition to its neighboring countries) and gave Cameroon-based organizations the opportunity to showcase their work and foster international interest and discussion.

The workshop focused on four (4) main themes including: 1. Health and Wellbeing into Old Age; 2. Elder Abuse; 3. Older Persons and Crisis Management; and 4. Age-Friendly Environments.
